Directed Trusts Presentation by Cynthia D.M. Brown, Esquire

May 2009

The concept of a directed trustee has been around for more than 20 years in the state of Delaware. A directed trust is a trust in which some of the duties traditionally held by a trust are vested in either an individual or several advisors. Cindy Brown, Vice President –Legal Affairs at CTC presented an overview of directed trusts to the Delaware Bankers Association Trust Committee on May 8, 2009. Cindy gave an excellent presentation to the committee which was well attended. Susan Highfield, Vice President of DBA thanked Cindy, “We were very pleased with the positive response from the DBA Trust Committee as demonstrated by its “standing room only” participation in the event and with the questions and issues the group raised. We really appreciate the time you took out of your extraordinarily busy schedule to speak to our trust professionals.”

Summer 2009

"Some states, such as Delaware, have enacted statutes that refine and improve the reasons for establishing a directed trust."
